SMP Europe’s engineers honoured in Automechanika Birmingham’s Thirty Under 30 Awards 2025

SMP Europe has revealed that two rising stars in its engineering team, George Ottowell and Adrian Overton, have been recognised in the first-ever Automechanika Birmingham ‘Thirty Under 30’ Awards 2025.

The awards were launched at Automechanika Birmingham this year to celebrate the brightest young talent shaping the future of the UK’s £21 billion automotive aftermarket.

Hosted on the Motorvate Ignite Arena stage during the show this summer, the awards spotlighted standout professionals across engineering, marketing, product development and customer service. George Ottowell, Electronics Engineer, and Adrian Overton, Lead Product Development Engineer, were selected from more than 50 exceptional nominations across the sector.

Martin Turner, Marketing Director at SMP Europe, commented: “It’s fantastic to see both George and Adrian receive this recognition. Their passion, drive and technical expertise perfectly reflect SMP Europe’s values and engineering excellence. We’re committed to developing future talent in the market and this accolade shows the strength of the staff coming through our business.”

The ‘Thirty Under 30’ initiative, launched by Automechanika Birmingham in partnership with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and headline sponsored by Comma, showcases the next generation of industry professionals making an impact early in their careers.

Overton and Ottowell’s contributions span product innovation, quality engineering, and the development of award-winning solutions like SMP Europe’s Intermotor-branded AdBlue injectors and expanding its leading ranges of components.

Their recognition highlights SMP Europe’s ongoing investment in talent, training and in-house development as the company continues to lead in the market.
